Remote Starter

I am thinking of installing a remote starter on my car because of the cold winters out here. Is there one that toyota offers that is a genuine toyota part? Will the dealer install a remote starter for you? If toyota does not offer a remote starter, what is a good brand that will work with the toyota security system? I do not want to void the waranty on my car! :thumb:

Toyota, as far as I know, installs remote starters. They install the Viper series by DEI. The remote start should not void any waranty. you can go to http://www.directed.com/ to look at thier products. I have a viper remote start and I have been completely satisfied with it. hope this helps

if you do get a 3rd party remote start installed, do alot of checking around and get alot of word of mouth good praise from previous customers from your intended remote start installer.

i had remote starts installed in my older toyota's by a well respected installer in my town and who actually knew his customers instead of treating them like another client, but when he sold his business, the new owner just does what he needs to get by and doesnt go the extra mile. hence i refuse to trust anyone in town to install any remote start in my wifes 02 tacoma or my brand new 04 4runner. i rather go out in the -40F and manually start my car than having to deal with problems later on down the road.
