Remote Starter

Hi! I am looking for a remote starter for my 2007 4runner. I would like it have a screen so I can tell when the truck is started without having to actually look at the vehicle. If anyone has any suggestions, Id appreciate it. Thanks!

Look at the Compustar starter lineup..I have the2W8000FMR(5P) alarm and starter combo...Just like what you want out of a remote..it let's you know via screen when the cars been started--showing a smoke animation on the tail end of the car..

I recently added the Viper 5301 to my '07. It's a 2-way system so you push the button to start it, then once the vehicle starts a signal is sent back and the FOB lights up green and beeps if it started successfully or red if it didn't start.

I love it and can't imagine not having it now that I've gotten used to getting into a cool ride.

Out of curiosity, with the new ignition that continued to crank after you don't turn the key and has the anti-grind feature, and with the overall reliability is this even necessary, or are you afraid that you're on the fringe of the starters range and that it might not start? Half the people i know can see their exhaust out the window since the starters are kind of line-of-sight anyway...

What are you talking about? Ok...so half the people can see it...what about the other half? Im not sure what your post is asking or suggesting....

I'm pretty sure the remote starters the members have here are similar by design to the Clifford IntelliStart I had with my other car.

My Clifford had a tach sensor wire that detected if and when the engine was running, so the remote starter will only crank the starter for the necessary duration and not longer. If the engine is not running, the obvious, it would start the engine. If the engine is running and the key is not in the ignition, it'll shut off the engine, it will not double start or grind the starter. If the engine is running and the key is in ignition, the remote starter takes over and allows removal of the key, so you can keep the engine running make quick runs back into the house, post office, etc. or use it as a turbo timer.
