Removable doors

This weekend I saw a new jeep wrangler without it's doors on, and had these tubular shaped doors instead that clearly swung open. Anyone ever done a door mod or I am stuck having to want a jeep?

I know 4X Innovations makes tube door and removable hinge kits for the 1st gen...check into it, maybe theres something for a 3rd gen...

but IMO, doorless is a Jeep thing...I don't understand...

so sounds like if you want removable doors, you get a jeep as it has that built in roll cage, otherwise its a true safety hazard if this is you DD. I would not be able to put a child in a car seat in the rear of a wrangler unlimited in good conscious knowing how poor the safety ratings are.

if i could get the 4x4 shop by me to build a safety cage where the doors go then id be interested in doing this, and installing some mirrors that affix to the front pillars instead of the doors...

shame on you for saying such things!

its not just a jeep thing, its for any true offroader... I would prefer to take my door panels off also, I wouldnt have taken any damage on that tree last week if I had... or if I waited for a spotter...

Every since I saw Kregg's 1st photos with his doors off I've been envious! I've been wanting to remove my doors for quite sometime now. Kregg you should totally make a write up on how you did this cause I feel like a lot of us would go for it if we knew the proper way of doing it!

What did you do about the power for the windows, locks, mirrors, etc....
Just cut the lines, or disassemble everything and re-assemble when you put the doors back on?

I am trying to come up with a plug so I can un plug them quickly & plug them back in just as fast when I put the doors back on.

Do you ever wheel at Chocoloco Mtn. in 'Bama?
We go up several times a year. Next trip is first weekend of Oct. I am hoping to make it...
Great people, even better wheeling!

Will do. Hopefully tonight... I'll have to stay late at work so I'll work on a write-up!

After reading all of these, it loks as if removing the doors on a 3rd gen will only be useful for rock crawling. I think my initial idea was to "have" a jeep without having to buy an inferior vehicle that is not only unsafe but also not a 4runner. Something else I had thought about is that once the doors are removed, speakers are gone too. I know, most of you are saying "duh" but i really wanted to make this one work. Oh well.
On another note, sold some furniture last night from our home to a young couple, the wife had a 2000 runner with 175k miles on it, niiiiice.

You could always put speakers in the kick panels and move the tweeters to the pillar
