Removable Doors

Doing this for my 92 but thought I would share. I saw this some where before and figured Id give it a try. These are the hinges off my parts 4runner. Cut the pin and tapped it out, then went to the hardware store and got some quick release pins (I think they were 7/16th). So, instead of unbolting every time I can just pull 2 pins, and will make changing doors easy for half doors in the future. Not going to be able to get them on till the first weekend in October.

i just cut a V notch in the top hole so i take out 3 bolts and loosen the top one and lift. but with 1st gens its nice cuz the doors are so light its easily a 1 person job

Got my hinges finished up.

I remembered to charge my camera and bring it, however, I forgot my memory card in my laptop. F. So cell phone pics will have to do.

Had to grind a chunk out of the head of the pin to get it to clear the hinge bolt. Close up of the pin ground down clearing the bolt.

The view from inside. Should have done this YEARS ago.

So now when I make some half doors, I can switch them easily.

No rattles or vibrations yet. There is a little slop in the pins, but can't tell unless you're looking for it. I dont have any electronics in the doors, the truck is a base model, which is perfect for me.

Its a long clevis pin, instead of having the little cages to get the clips to stay in, I just use cotter pins. I also ground down the bolt head a bit, just took the lip off. It literally takes about a minuet to get a door off and about 3 to get it back on.

I have a set of half doors so I can switch between the two easily, but since this is a trail only truck.. the doors mostly just stay off.

They are going to get cut lower, this is just the only pic I have
