is there an easy way to remove the center cap (the one with the TRD red letters) without removing the entire wheel/tire from the vehicle?

In your tool bag that is stored with your jack in the drivers side rear cargo area there is a "wheel ornament remover". It is an angled metal rod that is flat on one end. Each ornament has a narrow slot on the edge where the wheel and ornament meet. There is only one slot on each ornament so you will have to look for it on each one. Insert the flat end of the tool into the small slot and pry it off. You can use a flat blade screw driver, but the remover tool works best.

thanks, I see the slots and figured that's how to do it but didn't want to pry on them if there was a trick to it. I figured it better to ask than damage brand new wheels.

When putting them back on make sure they are aligned so they will fit flush with the wheel surface. If not they might pop off while driving. Pricey little parts!
I give them a whack with the heel of my hand then check to make sure they are flush all the way around. It doesn't take much force to get them back on.

This is true.
It’s good advice to make sure all the grabber tabs are aligned parallel to the wheel surface before you smack the center of the cap with your hand. Do not angle the cap with one side in, then smack the other side. It will not properly engage. And do not pound it with a rubber mallet.
After installing it I check to make sure it’s flush by running my finger tips and fingernails all the way around it for any gaps. You’ll get the hang of it.
Another tip: I take the caps off before getting tire rotations or any wheel or brake service. At one free oil change service the dealer tech pounded mine on with a mallet and bashed the heck out of them. I complained and the service manager ordered new ones for me, no charge.
