Removing factory exhaust any tips?

My tailpipe decided to separate at the back of the muffler. I'm going to remove it and install a Gibson cat back. Any tips on getting it apart at the cats? I haven't crawled under there yet, but I'm sure it's nice and rusted.

I'm really interested in any advice as well, I ordered a Gibson a few days ago and will be installing it in 2 to 3 days from now. Also 10 years of Wisconsin / Minnesota winters and my car is very rusty underneath.

Spray the bolts with a mixture of acetone and ATF for the rust. It works great.

Torch and angle grinder with a cut off wheel. Being from rust belt there is little hope of getting a nut to turn. No need to waste time.

Like others have said, soak the bolts, nuts in penetrant spray of your choice days before you start. When you do start removing exaust, start from the rear of the vehicle and work your way forward. When installing, start at the front and work your way to the rear. Don't torque anything down until everything is installed and adjusted properly. An extra set of hands may help. Don't forget about safety glasses and gloves.

I do most of my own work. And many years ago when I worked as a mechanic going to college...EVEN THEN I wouldn't do exhaust work. Still won't. You usually need a torch ..and sometimes a hammer drill.
