Removing front bumper '17 Limited

Hi guys-
I have been trying to remove my front bumper on my '17 limited to install new LED headlight projectors. I have run into an issue with getting the piece of the bumper in front of the fender cover removed. I've watched plenty of videos (all of which show models other than the limited) to try to see where I am going wrong, but I cannot seem to figure out why I cannot pop this piece of the bumper out. I have tried feeling around in front of the fender guard to see if there is a clip or bolt I have yet to detach on the inside. It seems that there might be something there, but I have yet to find anything that describes this clip or bolt. In all of the videos I have watched, this piece seems to detach easily with a little bit of pulling. That has not been the case for me. I’ve yanked on that thing about as much as I think you can. Can anyone else confirm? If so I must just be weak.

You just pull on it and it pops off. Did you remove all the screws?

i had a limited bumper. once you remove the three screws from the liner, just yank on the side of the bumper and it will come off :rockon:

Because of some the bumpers separating, like mine, some dealers initially used an epoxy to hold them in place. That would prevent an easy tug to pop it out, even with all screws removed.

Do you know if there was a repair and they did that..?

If you look at the liner where the top screw goes, you'll see that it is raised to fit in the hole in the bumper. You'll need to pull the bumper towards the tire a bit to get it up and over the screw hole or pry the bumper up and over with trim tools/screwdriver. I hope that makes sense. I couldn't get one of my sides off and it was due to that top plastic screw area.

The front end on it was rebuilt a bit ago. I do not remember if epoxy was put on or not but this could definitely be contributing to the issue.

Also-I found this bracket on the inside right by where I cannot get the bumper to separate. I’ve seen no where where anyone refers to removing this bracket. Here is a picture:

You gotta peel it back first where the fender liner attaches, then pull on the side of the bumper. It does take some force, but when you get it you'll say "man that was easy".

Did you try the driver side? How did that go for you?
