Removing mud flap - Body damage

I hate how my tires rub on my front mud flaps. I really want to remove them but I also don't want rocks to fly up and hit my door. Is there any way to keep the front mud flaps but reduce rub that is in the middle of the flaps?

Does anyone have door damage from removing theirs?

Only way to keep them is to trim them but then after trimming to the point where they don't rub they might not be useful anyway. Go take a look on Amazon at this stuff called Trimbrite BodyGuard Clear Smooth Protection Film. Its $20. I put it on my left and rear door panels and it helps to protect from small rock chips. I also have sliders so that comes into play but I also don't have front flaps on.

tucktuck8, I understand your dilemma. I too did not want to lose the protection of my mud flaps and thus I tried trimming. Problem is, the tires were rubbing on area of the flap that mounts to the fender and thus, in the end, I decided to remove them. A month or two later (this was last year), somebody here on T4R.org, came up with the idea (if memory serves) to heat up the flap at the mounting points and "smooth it out". Apparently, it worked for him. I'm sure that with some extended T4R.org Google searching, you can probably find that thread. Good luck!
