Removing Running Boards... What to do with Bolts?

I was planning on coating with anti seize and throwing them back in. That way if I ever want to put them back on to sell the threads won't be rusted.

I am patiently awaiting the RCI rock sliders I ordered and removed the running boards the second day I had it (about three weeks ago). Rust is pretty much a nonissue out here so the boards and hardware are sitting in my garage waiting for someone to want them. The empty holes should be filled next week when my rock sliders arrive.

sell them to me, I have running boards but the bolts and nut I think they are 10 mm 10 bolts and 10 nuts are missing I sure could us them [email protected]

How hard is it (how much time I should ask) is it to remove the running boards and install "nerf bars" with steps?

Is there a bar/step combo (or just steps) that screw into the original bolt holes or will I have to do some drilling?

Hi Bob, I swapped my stock running boards out for N-Fab steps that use the same bolt hole locations, there was 1 less bolt so I just installed that bolt like the others so I wouldn't have an open threaded hole under my truck for salt and rust to get into

I'm about to remove my nerf/steps and install sliders.
I'm going to get bolts to replace the nerf/steps bolts and include the original bolts when I try to sell the nerf/steps.

I am upgrading to sliders and will be selling my nerf bar rs steps from Nfab. I kept the old hardware. Will put anti-sieze on the old bolts and put them back in.

This is a rock 'slider'. Attaches to the frame and can support the entire weight of the vehicle.

These are nerf/steps. Attach to the body and are primarily a step. They will bend if impacted. Basically an offroad looking running board.

I screwed mine back into their threaded holes in the body to prevent debris from getting up into the holes and causing corrosion, etc. Probably a fruitless effort, but still - it's slightly better than just leaving them wide open.

I agree! Put a little grease or anti seize on them and re-install them. Great way to keep debris and moisture out of the holes.

Either put them in a baggy and tape them to the running boards to keep them with the boards wherever you plan on storing them or put marine grease or any other waterproof grease on the threads and put them back into the holes they came out of. Stop any kind of rust or corrosion that way.
