Removing Rusted/Rounded Head Bolts

This is why nothing under my truck ever goes back on without antiseize.

I use that stuff on practically everything. It's so nice to go back to something I installed 20 years ago and have it come apart like it was new.

Thanks I'll try to soaking it in kroil or pb blaster the next two nights then try again Saturday. If that doesn't work. On the extractor set, which set do I need for a 12 mm bolt? Doesn't look like it comes with a 12 mm extractor on the set listed in this thread ( Beginner question?)

I have so much oil from messy oil changes on my skids, this has never been an issue lol. Aside from the skid, every other 12mm or smaller bolt on the underside of truck breaks. Even the rear hatch bolts, 2 of the 3 broke and they are fairly protected from the weather. Maybe i should stop using 1/2 drive sockets and 2ft breaker bars.....

Find yourself a 12 point socket that is just too small to fit onto the rounded bolt head- doesn't matter if it's SAE or metric. Heat the bolt with a torch until it's red-hot. Hammer the socket onto the bolt head and let it cool for a few minutes. Remove the bolt. I've removed many rusted exhaust bolts this way!

I'll only add to bathe the area with penetrating oil and heat up the bolt/thread and let it cool down. Repeat 3 times - then hammer on the smaller size socket.
This takes care of most cases of nasty to remove fasteners.
