Removing sand from interior

I just took a trip down the Baja penninsula and now my vehicle's interior is full of sand. I've been trying to vacuum the stuff out, but a lot if is stuck in spots that my machine can't get. I'm using a regular household vacuum, so is it possible that I need to get something more powerful? Any other tips?
Also, what do you guys do/use to clean your truck's ceiling?

A Shop Vac is the only way to go. They are cheap. Also buy an accessory kit with different size brushes and tube diameters. I found a kit that reduces the tubing all the way down to

you can also go the the drugstore buy a funnel cut & duct-tape it to the end of your shop vac nozzle. Don't get near the family dog though or you might accidently vac off his nose.
