I use a Yakima set-up attached to the factory rails and want to remove the factory cross bars, as they are not needed. I can't figure out how to remove them and the Haynes manual I have does not address it either (as far as I can tell). Before I do, it there any extra support added by keeping the factory and Yakima cross bars? I usually only carry 2 kayaks at 50# each, mounted in J-style kayak holders attached to the Yakima bars.
