Removing the Instrument Cluster Trim?

The stupid dealer that "detailed" my new 2006 T4R somehow sprayed cleaner through the odometer reset peg hole in my instrument cluster. This resulted in a very visible film surrounding the hole on the inside of the clear plastic that covers the gauges. Anyone have any tips for me on safely removing the clear gauge plastic so that I can clean it? I downloaded the online version of the 2006 FSM and it just mentions several clips for the gauge bezel trim and no screws. It also shows that once the trim is removed, 2 screws hold the clear plastic on. So is it just as simple to remove as it sounds? I don't just want to start yanking on the trim and break something so any input or links to other threads would be appreciated.

hey wes,

it is pretty easy. granted i have a 2008 so hopefully they are similiar. Just remove the lower dash below the cluster and just grab from the bottom and pull. start from the lower left and make your way across. it is just a bunch of clips.

Once you have the bezel removed there are actually 5 bolts holding it together (3 bolts holding the bezel itself, 2 used to connect the harness). once you remove the cluster, its just a few tabs holding the clear lens to the cluster.

So you have to entirely remove the cluster before you can remove the clear gauge plastic? I was under the impression that once the gauge bezel was removed, the gauge plastic would come off with two clips at the bottom and two screws at the top in the crevices where the three clusters come together. I suppose I will find out when I try it. Thanks for the help and the informative link with pics!!

:bash: yeah my bad. apparently i'm making it more difficult than it has to be. you're right, you don't have to take the entire cluster out. I just found it to be a bit easier to take it out since i tend to break plastic tab
