Rental Lease ?

Anyone know an easy way to get out of a lease. We have 4 months left on our lease and we close on our house the end of February. I'm in the military but staying in the same town so PCS orders are not possible.

Give as much notice as possible and work with the landlord to find a new renter.

We were in the same situation...we worked out that we paid a lump sum, which was half of the 4 months left. We also agreed to get the place to a condition that someone could move in the day after we left, so the landlord wouldn't lose any money.

It's a huge apartment complex which makes it a hard situation.

Schmooze the leasing agent. If they fill the apartment they can't continue to charge you rent. The leasing agent usually has some discretion in which units get rented and may be able to minimize your liability.
