Yeah I was wondering about that too. Maybe it's a rating from the buy/sell forum.

Yeah I was looking at that the other day. I found it interesting that a lot of us guys that have high post counts and are usually very helpful (DuHockey, Brian2Sun, Drifter33, Liny etc.) have low ratings or on a Distinguished road but there was one that had almost no posts and was Highly rated.
If you look under each persons name when they post there is the online status button then next to that is the "Add to reputation" and "report this post" button.

It happened yesterday I believe. I've seen it on other forums. I'm pretty sure people can rep you if you help them out or something like that.
Just click that button and you can give someone positive or negative rep.
I also noticed the discrepancy between people with high and low post counts.

Its on tacoma world too. its pretty much the facebook "like" button. but the more people like your posts, the higher your rep is

I thought that it would tell you somehow if you got a rep from someone. When I repped a person on here it had a box for me to comment why I repped that particular post.
If people use it, I think it could be a useful tool.

This is a NEW feature of the forum, I saw it show up in the last week or so. From the looks of it the forum started everyone out on the same rep status to be fair. As we all know just because you have the most posts does not mean you are the most helpful! I think this tool will be a great benefit to the forum!

I know if you click the 'heart' on one of your OWN posts a dialog box will pop up and tell you haw many points you have and if that particular post has received any rep points. Not sure if there is a way too see all posts and your points for each in one easy place.

I never said that people with more posts were more helpful. Although I would tend to say that they are. They've been here the longest and have seen a lot of information.
This feature is only useful if people use it. So lets start repping people!
I know on some of the other forums that I frequent that they have a minimum 35 REP points to post somthing in the Buy/Sell forum. This stops a great deal of scammers. They also sometimes have giveaways for people over certain REP amounts.
I think its a pretty usefull feature to weed out some of the "noise" that forums can attract.

For the most part I agree with you, but as you know, there are a few that have a TON of post that do nothing but cause trouble, so to be fair everyone starts even. I will not mention names but I saw someone with over a few thousand posts the other day, not a trouble maker at all, but just did not seem to have a clue what they were talking about with regards to the 4R. Someone could just post all in the OT section for all we know! I agree, I like the rep points system, but then again you can tell, for the most part, when someone responds to you if they really know what they are talking about or just pulling stuff from thin air. Just because you 'see' the information time and time again does not mean you 'understand' it.
