Want to thank all for the input!!. Pulled the radiator, initially went like a breeze; hoses, both water and trans were removed within min's. Three of the bolts holding the fan shroud to the radiator support took a matter of a few mini's to remove and then I came upon the 'bolt from hell', lower passengerside fan shroud bolt, and it's a short threaded bolt at that, there were times I was lucky to get a 1/4 turn. :violin:The entire project took about 1 hr. 45 min's; 20 min's to remove hoses, radiator and 3 of the fan shroud bolts and 45-50 min's to deal with that damn bolt. Anyhow, going to pick up a 10 mm box end ratchet wrench, should help with reassembling. Again, thank you!.

Wow, do I feel stupid
;I can sense there's alot of snickering ; bottom line, found I did not have to detach the fan shroud to remove the the radiator, therefore, no 'bolt from hell'. On my 4 runner, there's a detachable section on the lower half of my fan shroud, clips secure it to the shroud and once removed it allows for additional clearance between the shroud and the fan. Thus, when it came to reassembling, I attached the shroud to the radiator, and then inserted them as a unit into the radiator support and it only look a few minutes to secure the radiator and attach the hoses.

Yeah, mine was an easy job, however I have a Texas vehicle w/ no rust. All the rust was inside the radiator =X

It happen to me the first time I pulled the radiator, to take to the repair shop. Putting it back in, I re-attached the upper cover to the radiator first before dropping it in. I kinda mentioned the two clips in my first reply, but I should have given more details. Hopefully someone else can learn from this experience.

It was sometime later I recalled reading about the 2 clips, went back and reviewed your thread; had to laugh at myself, just another example of 'firstimer' bone head mistake. Just completed the tranny screen and fortunately was able to keep the mistakes to a minimum.

Don't be so hard on yourself. At least you were able go your radiator replaced, without having to take a 2nd mortgage. All we can do is learn from our mistakes, and chalk one up to experience. I'll bet if you had to do it again, you won't forget.

don't worry, at least you didnt break your shroud into several pieces that had to be zip tied all together because it pissed you off... lol.
