Newbie here, I've been reading this site for past 2 years and finally joined due to the purchase of a couple of 4Runners over the last few month. The one in question is mine, 96 Limited 4x4 3.4L V6 with 183K Automatic. I've owned this vehicle maybe 2 weeks, and I finally decided that I trust it enough to take it in the mountains. Well, it overheated by the time I got half way up the hill, decent grade, clocking 2700-3200 on the Tachometer. So, I did some research on here and it sounds like I have a bad fan clutch, spins pretty freely hot or cold. New OEM, the way I would like to go, cost more then I'd like to spend($100-130). Are the original Aikin re-buildeable and can I get another 50-100K out of them? I am mechanicaly inclined, is it worth the time to save $80-100? Their is no play in the pulley in any direction. So far I've ran 1 bottle of Lucas fuel treatment and Chevron medium grade. I am on my second tank and looking like 15.39 MPG. Haven't checked plugs yet. Thank you in advance for any advice.
