Replace pads or Tundra Upgrade?

The reason I asked AZ4FNER about the brake pads is that mess of goop between the piston and the back of the pad is the result of using the wrong type of lube (probably wasn't for a caliper); it heated up and became like tar. Plus too much was used also.
The Tundra brake upgrade is the best upgrade I have done on my 4runner, even better than adding the OEM locker.

I did the 199 upgrade almost a year ago and it was totally worth the effort. Be sure to check the brakes before you leave i got my calipers from O'Reilly. and the roters from AutoZone (O'Reilly didn't have everything) and I went ahead and got factory Toyota Pads.

I didn't take a picture of the new tundra rotors but here is a pic of the T4r rotor next to my old Lexus is300 rotor. The is300 weighs 3500lbs and the T4r weighs 4000lbs. I don't understand why a truck meant to trailer boats and other heavy items has such thin rotors.

So leaning towards the 231mm upgrade over the 199mm. Just a little apprehensive of possibly having to grind the rims or calipers down to fit. My 6 spoke stock rims are on the 'fit list' but some say they still need to grind them down? Is the 231mm really worth the effort over the 199mm? Going around in circles here! lol 
Thinking of buying everything at O'Reillys unless someone can tell me a better place to buy for price or quality.

If you plan on just keeping your wheels then I would go with 199mm. Hey look at it this way, no matter which one you go with will be better than the stock 4R brakes :thumb3:

This is the way I'm leaning right now. Just trying to source the best parts for the job now. I have O'rillys, Autozone, Pepboys and Napa around here. Still keeping the 231mm in there though but think the 199mm will win out since I don't have to grind critical parts of the brakes/ rims.
