Guys,
I'm in the market for new tires, but I want to upgrade to 265/70-17 from the stock 265/65. The dilemma I'm seeing now is whether or not to buy 5 new tires in 265/70 or just use the best of the outgoing, smaller ones as a spare. Two of them have 6/32nd's left on them, so that'll be fine for emergencies.
Now, I know it's generally not a good idea to have tires of different sizes on a driven axle, but that would only affect things if I get a flat in the rear. Even still, I can rotate two tires to get the sizes to line up on the same axle. That said, we're talking about .5" of diameter - not a huge difference. I don't really have any interest in doing a 5 tire rotation, nor do I really want to buy a 5th tire. Anyone see any issues with a slightly "smaller" tire acting as the spare?
Thanks in advance!
