replaced fuel injectors Wow!

I had one bad injector- the coil was grounded-. replaced all 6 with Standard brand new. $450 for the set. I am impressed with the smoothness of acceleration and the lack of the sewing machine clicking. This is on a rebuilt 3.0 with 20,000 miles. I couldn't replace them at the time of rebuild due to lack of funds buy now I am glad I did.
The beck Arnly's were cheaper but I was advised to stay away from them.
Haven't ran a full tank yet to figure out the MPG's I was at 16.5 to 19. Hope this helps save fuel. I hope they last another 21 years.

Difficult no

The difficulty was removing the plenum. It isn't technically hard just tedious. had to change a few connectors-were brittle> overall on the par with changing the spark plugs and val ave cover gaskets .
 
Where did u get the injectors from? If my compression checks out which it should cause I just did the heads not long ago im gonna need to do my injectors cause of my terrible idle/misfire
 
hey since you guys were both (or are) having trouble... how do your engines run if you blip the throttle during the few seconds of a cold start? mine has started to run rough like that. Guess I should do the filter first but it doesn't seem right. Ive been noticing a surge that feels like driveline vibration but its not. scoped out the ignition at idle and it looks great.

anything sound familiar?

Does it feel like it jerks while it's under load? Mine does that and it feels driveline (I know it's not tho)
 
My first starts of the day are brutal. Well they were until I unhooked my csi and now it starts much better

yes exactly like that. It felt like a secondary miss but I scoped it and there's nothing wrong with the ignition. I guess a few more steps are to scope it on the dyno since its only under load. I should scope the injectors too along with the fuel pump.

When I start it cold, if i tap that pedal and let off it just about dies. I actually started it then restarted it once and it was misfiring til it smoothed out.

actually I should try a fuel system service. i can use the professional machine that people pay $120 to have done for probably nothing.

edit: not hard, just time consuming. the plenum needs to come off. i bought a valve cover gasket set and it came with the upper IM gasket.

standard part number fj80? hows that for coincidence? lol

I think im gonna replace my fuel filter tomorrow. its like it starts up and doesnt have enough pressure to make it through at first. I started it up earlier and just floored it for a second. bogged down and cut out like it was going to die. then it smoothed out. that's not ignition behavior.
 
Didnt replace the filter. I started it up again and waited for it to run like crap then went to sniff fumes/smoke. ignition trouble. lol damn it.

I know its off scope of the thread but still.
 
Crap I just put half a bottle of seafoam in my tank and I know it could just be my mind but my acceleration was great today no jerky takeoffs and my speedo wasnt jumpy esp in 3rd gear. Still got a off n on miss at idle tho dammit lol
 
I have no idea... of course a cold engine just started smells like fuel but I should check my plugs. Check your plugs as well. if they look good I would honestly recommend a fuel system maintenance before doing injectors. I've seen them do great things as it pretty much runs your engine on shop air and straight solvent.

I think I figured out what csi is. Cold start injector? is THAT what that thing is on the intake manifold, passenger side, with the fuel line going to it?
 
I don't think the 3.0 has one...I'll look on mine tomorrow though I don't believe my truck has a coldstart injector.
 
yup it does... right there on the side of the manifold. Unclipped it for fun. it was 28* here. took a few seconds to start but when I revved it like you would on a carbed engine, it didnt stumble as bad but still smelled of gas big time. along with the smoke.

If I didn't know better, this thing acts exactly like a carbureted engine. lol.
 
Yes the csi is cold start injector. I pulled my plugs my #5 was wet of gas oil maybe like it wasnt firing. Pulled the plug wire while running and no change in idle

Mine starts right up without the csi. I gotta stop being lazy. Ima get a new fuel filter and I still gotta run a compression check to see if anythings abnormal
