Replaced T-Stat 170 Degrees

I replaced my T-stat but instead of replacing with 180 I replaced with 170 because that's what the store had. I was told it was an alternate temp T-stat availiable for the V8. The 10 degree difference does not reflect on the gauge so probably it should be fine?

it's an after market Murray made in Israel purchased from Kragen/O Reilly auto parts 4217 is the part number

Will that reak havok with the AUTO setting on the AC system?

I assume that the temperature in the AC system is regulated with engine heat.

No, it'll be fine. There's a temp sensor in the cabin that controls the auto-A/C. People in the most extreme, cold climates may miss the few degrees of coolant temp. In a worst-case (cold weather) situation the oil may not get hot enough and hold water over time. For almost anyone in the lower 48 that would never be an issue. Another real cold-weather issue may be slightly cooler vent temp when heater is on high.

Put the right temp thermostat in. The engine was engineered and designed to run at a set temp and I think the engineers at Toyota know what is best for their products. The temp change could have a negative affect on many different aspects including the efficiency of the engine.
