I've been out of town for a few days since posting this but every thing that was noticed on the initial install is still there.
More grunt from a dead start...
Smoother shift points...
And no more of that Damn downshifting when going up a grade!
This filter will not make the 4Runner a race car. What it will do is make your truck a whole lot more fun to drive.

I'm as impressed with this filter today as the day I got it from Jason B and installed it.
Just for the record, I have no connection with the makers or sellers of these filters. This is just a product that I am truely impressed with and it's performance. I even tried to get one for my other car...They just don't make an App yet. Soon as they do I will order one for that and take the K&N out.

First off...I'm new to T4R.org but I've been over on YotaTech for a few years now...just wanted to say hey!
The True Flow filter is point blank the best filter you can get for our 3rd gens, perfect fit in the airbox and not to mention, after about 100 miles or so AMAZING power increase! I didn't notice it right out of the box as some do, but after about 100 miles the power off the line is amazing!
I HIGHLY recommend this filter to anybody with a 3rd gen who is looking for something to replace the OEM paper filter, which in no way is bad, just a little out of date compared to the True Flow.
I would also HIGHLY recommend going through Jason B. at www.burtmanindustries.com

Thanks Guys, From reading this seems to be the next best thing to Light Bread and a Hooter's girl.. .. I may have to go this route, I take it that it is a direct fit with no other mod to do.

I would also recommend getting the PIAA foglamps as well, I have all PIAA lighting up front and it really make it stand out!
If you contact him soon, he can add the foglights to the order if you want go that route. I initially got just the headlamps but when I saw the difference in color I was amazed so I ordered the foglamps the next day along with the corner bulbs.

I installed a K&N in my 97 Grand Prix a few years ago and didn't notice a thing. Ok, I know, a whole different engine, airbox ETC. I'm not really trying to compare the two, more just want to stress the difference in the improvement in performance.
This filter out of the box is by far the best money I have spent on non-appearance items. You should notice everything mentioned above as far as performance as well as driveability. Maybe Fink can add his .02 here for a second opinion.

Everything I've ever read has said that True Flow is better than a K&N drop-in, honestly the only other drop-in reusable filter other than the True Flow I would suggest would be the Amsoil...but I personally guarantee the True Flow will blow both you, and the Amsoil away...very high quality product.
That video that THUNDR CLOUD posted in that link is a worthwhile few minutes...pretty impressive, often times at auto shows and some car parts expos there will be rep. from True Flow there and you can watch them do those demos, I have never seen them but, I have leared from first-hand experience the improvement a True Flow can make.

IF you are looking for power gains, a cold air kit will give you a bit, but again, its going to be very minimal. Plus the kits I have seen for the 4runner thus far keep the filter in the engine bay (hot air), and if they made one that sits inside the fender like on a car I would not want it....its a 4x4 ie water, snow etc
I dyno'd my last mustang before and after with a cold air kit (just happened to be that way when tuning it one day), and I think it was a difference of around 3rwhp
Things like exhaust, heads, power adders etc are what you want if you really want to make more power
