Replacement Frequency of Fuel Filter?

I keep track of all my maintenance and parts. Looking at the last time I replaced the fuel filter, it was 72K ago.

How often do you guys replace your fuel filter on the 3rd gen with the 5VZFE?

I'm not sure what the recommended interval is, if there is one. I went about 150-160k miles on my original one, until I replaced it while shotgunning (replacing parts until the problem goes away) a CEL. Turns out that the original filter was not causing the problem. But I figured that at that mileage, it would be a good thing to do anyway.

Wud up Bama, I noticed the need rise on where I bought fuel. Central MS. I changed every 4-5 yr around 75-100k mi filter wasn't that dirty. Change of jobs put me filling up in Galliano LA. bayou town, annual mileage 12k filter needed changing annually over 10 yrs. I'm a curious type I cut filter apart for a look see for yrs.

Hey RedRunner. Did you cut your fuel filter open to see how it looked? I am really focused on PM and just decided after 70K+ miles between changes, it couldn't hurt. Strange thing is, seems like I have a little more "pep" on the throttle. Might just be my imagination though....

Yes cut filters apart with pipe cutter. After doing the annual bayou gas filter change for 3-4 yr seeing what filter looked like I thought what the hell does tank filter look like. Sure nough it was nasty, changing tank filter is when I feel I noticed a change in operating.

This was on 96Red, the 01 I now have bought at 198K lived in Memphis changed filter cut it open looked like 200k filter, ok. Tank is coming out soon will change tank filter while it's out, if not such a PITA to change I'd do tank filter every 100-150k mi also.
