I could rag on you for taking so darn long, but you got it fixed and now the thread is halfway closed.
Did you take any pics? At least post one of the old pump.
Now to get Baja to drop his tank to cure his hard starts, and to take pics to close the "engine cranks 3x too long" thread.
WoooHooo!!!! This is great news! :driving::driving:
Any tips or tricks you would recommend along the way? How long did it take to drop the tank?
Wow, an hour doesn't sound TOO bad.
So are you certain this is the fix?!
Can I smoke a cigarette while doing this job? :biggrin2:

Great information. I was reading your other post. I to am having a slow start and mine has around 170,000 on it.
So Drcoffee, did the new pump make starting any better?
I'm pretty sure it fixed my issue.
I don't think that smoking would be a good idea.
Here is my write up.
*Support the tank with a floor jack
**Take out the bolts that hold the tank up
*Remove a bazillion hozes, lines and two cables
*Lower the tank, watch for the hose and cable that you haven't disco'd that are on top of the tank
*Lower the tank to the ground
*Slide the tank out
*Remove the pump
*Put in the new pump
*Reinstall the tank, remembering to hook everything back up
*Check to make sure you hooked everything up.
*Later that day, Check again to make sure you hooked everything up. (I kept wondering if I reconnected the line that is...)
Oh yeah, Wash your hands a bazillion times and get used to the smell of gas on your hands for a few days (I even wore rubber gloves).
Ha! Exactly what I'm thinking. My Subaru had a nice removable access port big enough to change the fuel pump in the back seat. 30 minute job at most. Thought I could do that on the rig but I shoulda known they wouldn't make it that easy on the 4runner. I mean, judging by the pain in the ass concoction to change the oil. [emoji52]its too bad that Toyota did now make an removable panel in the truck to get to the pump
ive had several cars that did, (BMW , Volvo to name a few)
but Toyota was prob figuring that we would not replace the pump and a lift off body panel would have cost an extra 50 cents in production
