Need replacement windshield due to damage from large rock.
Getting online quotes.
Safelite & other vendors asking green or blue shade on present windshield.
I say blue but others saying green.
What you think, green or blue?

i'd ask to see an example of each, even if you have to drive down to their shop. The blue is lame, but I've never seen the green...it could be worse than the blue. My 4r has a blue one (aftermarket) and I'm looking forward to the windshield getting cracked so I can ditch it for a no color no tint unit.

Can you find a way decode the Toyota markings in the lower driver's side corner? You would think a glass shop would, but my dealings with Safelite have not been great.

So according to Toyota the original factory glass is “green with blue tint”, whatever that means.
Will submit claim to my insurer Hagerty since I have glass coverage with zero deductible.

I just replaced the original windshield in my Black 98 Limited with tan interior. The windshield was bronze tinted with no band up top.

I just had mine replaced last week, I was not given an option. I would say mine is more of a green than blue

Installation complete.
Went to local Safelite. Nice clean installation with same tinted/shaded glass as the original OEM windshield.
Apparently Safelite provides lifetime warranty if it requires replacement for any reason, stone, crack, tree limb, etc, etc.

Did they say what the tint color was? Good to know about the lifetime warranty. I’ve been considering replacing my windshield for all the small chips in it. How much was it?

Safelite also referred to the glass as green with a blue tint which according to them is what most of the later (00-02) 3rd gen’s came with from the factory.
It actually looks like an exact match with the original OEM damaged glass they removed.
$365 total cost

Where did you get your glass? When you say bronze, do you mean like an amber color? I used to have an '83 280zx turbo, black w/tan leather and all the glass was factory tinted amber. Really looked great.

I'd love to do the same for my black/oak 4runner.

Yeah, it's kind of amber, and suits the tan interior quite nicely. I'm glad I went with it! It's notably different when compared to modern vehicles with the green hue/tint to them. I think the only concern with switching would be that it might not match your side windows? Although, I'm not sure if they are tinted like the windshield is.

I'm in Canada and got mine done at a chain called Speedyglass
