Replacing broken driveshaft zerk

So I'm having some rear end clunking and I did some digging. I thought it was the rear shocks at first but they're all snugged up and it still makes the noise. Now I'm almost positive the drive shaft needs greasing.

Slight problem though, my rear end had some serious contact with the gas tank skid and it snapped off the drive shaft zerk. Now that I think about it I remember seeing some grease leak out at the time. How should I replace this? I think it may have sheared off inside it. This will be my first experience lubing the drive shaft.

Shouldnt be too hard to extract. You can try extractors, left spin drill bit or i used a hex head driver and it came right out. Usually when it breaks off it relieves the pressure off the threads so it should come out easy. Get a new zerk to grease it, then take it back off and put in a socket screw and it will never happen again.

Ill see if i can find a part number for you.

No go on part# and i dontt remember the specs, heres what i did. Took off a different Zerk, matched it up at auto parts store, took them to home depot, matched up the thread pitch on the display thing they got, and bought a few different lemgths of the right socket screw. If i recall a longer one worked best, somewhere between 1/4-3/4".

Yeah, an easy-out should back that broken stub right out. The nice thing about grease zerks is they're normally greasy.

Thanks for the help guys, I ended up getting it out fairly easily. I just need to buy a new one now and I'll be good to go.
