Replacing Drive Belt on 2004 4Runner V6

Hi All,

I have a 2004 4Runner which need to have the 90K service. Does anyone of you have a link to a site that provide information and instruction to replace the drive belt? There should be only 1 right? Is it time to replace it?

Also, since it is V6 SR5, it should be using Timing Chain, right?

A search on this site will fid the instructions for you. It's very easy to replace.

The V6 has a timing chain.

I tried, but I just can't find any information about how to replace it. I found the diagram but where is it located? Also, there should only be 1 belt that I need to replace, right?

Seems you need to retake sarcasm 101. What jharris2 was trying to tell you is that the V6's don't have timing belts, they have timing chains, which don't need changing. There is no timing belt on it to change.

Are you perhaps referring to the serpentine belt on the front of the engine, which drives all the accessories, such as the alternator, power steering pump, A/C, etc. ?

I've attached the a *.pdf section of the FSM that covers this... No guarantees about this board's handling attachments properly, though.

Thanks so much for this post - I want to replace the belt tonight on mine and I wasn't exactly sure which idler was the tensioner as you can't really tell topside. This will save me a lot of time!
