Replacing Front Shocks... Should I Replace Springs Too?.2

I'm going to give this another shot since my original post was lost to the hackers.

Recently replaced the rear shocks and springs with Bilstein 4600 and "99 "talls". While the "talls" and my original '98 rear springs were within a 1/2" of each other off the vehicle, installed the talls gave me an additional 3/4" in height. My 4Runner has a nice little rake to it again.

I'm happy with the height up front but my original shocks are shot after 330k so they're gone. Should I replace the springs and if so... Should I use the '98 springs or the "99's? Thanks.

I’d replace them while your at it, that’s a job that I would prefer not to do twice imo.. unless the Springs are super expensive..

Definitely replace, with whichever new springs seem best to you. The original springs are shot because they are so old, even if the truck has not been driven.

There's really no reason to replace the springs if you are not looking to change the height or character of the front. Go with the adjustable Bilsteins and you will then have the opportunity to raise the front end slightly to even out the slight rake you probably have. The adjustable Bilsteins are now available specifically for a 3rd gen 4runner and have three perches, but many others prefer to use the Tundra struts with five perches. The only real issue I see may be a warranty claim with Bilstein down the road.

If you need rear load support in the future consider air bags inside of your 99 coils. <$100, and they are great.

I would go new springs, and for me I did 99 talls all around. If you like the slight rake then go with stock springs.
I did KYB's at the time, but if to do again would go Bilstein from what I have been reading on the forums.
+2 on airbags. did that too. not expensive and when really loaded down just air up and balance out

As everyone above me has already said, just replace the spring while you're in there.

Last thing you wanna do is go back in there twice.

Why would he replace the springs if he's happy with the ride height? If they are still holding the weight, they haven't sagged/worn. The fronts don't sag like the rears do (and they aren't too soft until you get extra weight up there).
