Replacing front wheel stud

Does anyone know what steps are required to replace a wheel stud for a front wheel? I replaced the brake pads and struts yesterday. When I was putting the wheel back on a stud snapped off.
I really don't feel like taking the caliper/rotor/etc off, especially after all the work yesterday, so if there is a trick I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mac

Not sure what you have, but on my '99 Tacoma 4x4, it just comes off, once the caliper is off.
It could stick a little, like a rear drum does sometimes. But, like the drum, there are threaded holes that can be used to gently pop it off without the use of a BFH.

It's a '99 4runner. Sorry, I thought that all 3rd Gens would be the same, I guess I should have specified.
Thanks.
