replacing HU... do I have all the parts?

Alright I hope that everyone can help me out... I am not purchasing a Navi system, I don't need it. But I would like a fully functioning set-up.

My current 4Runner is a 04 SR5 with the Upgraded JBL System, my head unit is a single disk (yes it has the JBL logo on the HU). My steering wheel also has the controls on it.

I tried a Ipod adapter and it didn't work the way I wanted it to.

I am looking at the Alpine CDA-9885 HU with the ipod cable: KCE-422i

Steering wheel controls:
PAC SWI-JACK

Wiring Kit:
Metra: Toyota JBL Interface (TYTO01)

Bracket kit:
Metra: (99-8210)


Do I have everything?

yea, I've installed all the new HU in my vehicles.

I've been reading about the installs and the only thing that looks to be tricky is the steering wheel controls.

yea that is going to be the hard part...

i would suggest picking up a digital multi meter if you dont already have one...and double check all the wires under OFF / ACCESORY / AND IGNITION stats...just to make sure they dont change.

another question...

When I use the Metra wiring kit, where do the RCA plug into and what do that go to...

I am assuming the JBL sub, but there is 4 RCAs.

Also when using the Metra wiring harness, Do you lose the front stage effect with the stock headunit?

With 10 speakers, how many zones are there OR how is each speaker controlled with the new headunit and factory system.

alright which Metra indash kit did you use? Metra is listing two kits.

you need to have bought a radio with 3 pre-outs (or 2 with rear as sub or full range)

Which if you bought the CDA-9885 your all set..you plug in those RCA's into the back of the radio

Im not at work right now, i can check on the dash kit tomorrow morning.

But the harness is a low-level harness..

This kit DID NOT fit my dash(99-8210). The Kit was an 1" to wide for my opening.

I ended up using a Scosche TA2044B, it fit perfect.

My Head unit is a JBL single disk.

I am loving it. I also installed my old sub and amp from the Tacoma. I install an Orion XTR powered with a Phoenix Gold Octane R5.0:1... I installed the Amp under the drivers seat and ran a speaker cable to the sub in the back seat.



I'll be replacing it with a JL Audio sub and possible amp. I haven't thought about the amp and sub yet.
