Tried a search and cannot find a thread where someone replaced their OEM sub in the original JBL enclosure. Anyone tried this? I have an 03' limited with the 6disk-JBL setup. I'm thinking about a new Eclipse or Kenwood 2-din headunit, a JL 300/4 driving front components (front channels), the rear speakers driven by the HU, and bridging the rear channels of the 300/4 to drive a 8w3 stealth mounted in the OEM location. I'm thinking that if I can mount the amp under the passenger seat and get the sub in the OEM location, I don't sacrifice any space.
I also thought that depending upon volume of the OEM enclosure, I could remove the OEM and then fiberglass a custom piece to fit. Any thoughts on the volume of the OEM enclosure? Anyone fit a 2-din HU in the trim bezel for a 6-disk JBL setup? It seems from the Navi discussion, that there are some very slight differences in the trim for the Base stereo vs the JBL unit. Just curious if anyone has specifically installed the Eclipse or Kenwood unit in a JBL setup.
