Replacing power steering pump - DIY?

Qyota

This spring I plan to do a full overhaul on my steering...from the rack to the lower ball joints. I'm also fairly certain the bearing in the PS pump or pulley is dying.

Is the R&R of the PS pump pretty much DIY? Any tips?

Thanks! :cowboy:

I have a full pump rebuild kit sitting on my workbench. I have no specific timetable for it's use...and I was just going to figure it out as I did it. But, I only shy away from DIY stuff that requires a plasma cutter or a 40 ton press. :)

From looking at the pump, and it's location, it's definitely a DIY project in my book. Just one I haven't done yet.

Did this on a Dakota sport not long ago. Definitely DIY capable. Put cardboard under the tires to ease the lock to lock turns to bleed the system.
