Replacing rear tag bulb??

One of my rear tag lights is out. I removed the two phillips head screws to replace the bulb. I expected the lense to separate from the housing to expose a bulb but the entire light loosened. I guess this is a one piece unit? How do you replace a bulb that is out? Did a search with no luck.

The lens should come off. There is a rubber gasket between the lens and housing. I think I remember it feeling stuck the first time I replaced a bulb

Did you try to gently pry the lens apart from the housing? Sometimes they get stuck, its been a while since I replaced my 4Runner's light, but if i remember right, that's how they are.

Don't feel that way. Better to ask then to break something. I have been in the same situation as well. It is what T4R.ORG is for

It's all cool! Just unscrew it and pry the gasket off and it should open up pretty easily! You can replace it with an LED which will be far brighter and last forever.
