replacing shocks

hey everyboby need some help with this.going to replace my shocks on my stock 90 runner.not sure if i should go with the bilstein's or monroe brand.also should i replace the springs when replacing the shocks.had the truck for about 7-8yrs so its well over due for new shocks.not looking for no lift.keeping the height stock.just looking for better role control around corners and up&down motion.thanks ur feed back is greatly appreciated :bigok:

personally i would go with the bilsteins. as for the springs if they are sagging like they all do either replace them or get spacers. otherwise dont worry about it.

Soccer mom car LOL….Mine too:nerd: I have to buy new rear shocks for my 88 as well. The fronts were replaced by the previous owner, he used Bilsteins so, I am going to buy the same to match what is on the rear.

I went through this a year ago with my father's 90 4runner, was looking to get rid of the issues you mention. Here is what I did to the truck:
- new factory shocks all around which helped immensely but Bilsteins probably would have been a better call.
-new drivetrain mounts(trans & motor) which helped the truck track much better under load or acceleration, less vibrations and noises, etc...
-rebushed all the control arms(front & back) and sway bars with urethane bushings from Suspension Restoration Parts Co.. This really improved the cornering and stability at speed.
-installed MOOG rear coil springs
-installed 25mm sway-a-way torsion bars and all new ball joints(upper and lower)
After the afore mention parts were installed, it really transformed the truck into a for more precise and useable vehicle in all demensions. You might check to see if your truck is due for the steering relay rod recall which tightened up the steering a fair bit.
