Replacing Speakers

ARGO

New member
I picked up some new speakers and started taking my door panels off just to find that the stock speakers have the adapter built into/around the speaker....

Anyone know how to install the speakers without having to cut the wires as I would like to retain the factory wire harness, etc..

What about the depth of the new speakers? Without the factory adapter the speakers sit in closer to the window when rolled down..

Any help, advice, pics would be great appreciated...

Thanks..

Just get yourself a speaker harness so you could plug your aftermarket speakers to your stock wiring harness. I believe they're by Metra and you could get them cheap on Ebay. See attached pic.

As for the mounting of the speakers, just get yourself a 4' x 2' sheet of 3/4" MDF board and make your own speaker adapters. Then spray paint it with paint or bedliner spray to prevent the MDF board from absorbing moisture. You could always get some dense plastic adapters from www.tacotunes.com as well.

Their stuff is not the cheapest but they will bend over backwards to satisfy you with even the smallest of purchases.
