replacing starter contacts !

my contacts are about shot, i got the contacts from the dealer, but i was wondering if i should replace the plunger too, or just clean the one i have up a little, what do most here replace when they do the starter contact job? thanks guys

I just did this and asked the same question.

I personally only replaced the contacts and all the little parts that came in the bag from the dealer. I used brake cleaner to clean everything by spraying it on a rag and then wiping down the inside including the plunger. Works fine now.

No. I got two small bags (one for each side) and one had about 7-8 parts and the other a few less.

It depends on which starter you have...2 different kinds if I remember correctly

Mine was kit
28226-72010
and
28226-22050

It came with everything brand new from the bolts to the nuts. I would think you'll be fine using the parts that came off but I'd clean those bolts up like the plunger atleast.

Do you have a pic??? I guess he gave you the parts for both types of starters and you can match up the right one from the piece you take out.

i guess i got the contacts themselves and that is it, he probably figured on cleaning the rest of the parts
