replacing weather stripping

I would like to be able to talk with others (in my car) while driving. The bad weatherstripping makes it hard, due to the wind noise. First off, where can I get new stripping, and second, how hard is it to install?

I am looking to do the same because mine leaks and the car smells like mildew every time it rains. Unfortunately I have had no success minus the dealership (too expensive of course). I am on the lookout so if you or anyone else knows where to get the stripping please let me know.

I have done some research and was able to find a couple of online places that sell it considerably cheaper than the dealership. I am going to look further into this but i wanted to keep you updated. Also the replacement is a synch since it slides on (if we are both looking for the outer stripping), I took mine off the other day just to look at it. I will keep you updated on what I find.

What weather stripping are u talking about?...the rubber piece that seals the windshield glass to the car body roof?

I need to replace the strips on my doors. I've read on here or YotaTech that the same seal works on either door if you can find one at a junkyard.

Replacing worn or damaged weatherstripping around exterior doors will save money on your energy bills. Take a piece of the old weather stripping with you to the home improvement store so you can easily match it.

I contacted Conicelli Toyota at [email protected] and was able to look for and order all the exterior seals that rub against the windows. They were very helpful and easy to deal with. Part #'s are below.

Not sure if this thread is still active. I recently purchased my 02 4runner and the weatherstripping is in dire need of replacement. I'm looking right now to replace only the rear glass/tailgate but want to make sure I get everything I need. Do you have to dis-assemble the door to replace it? I believe mine is leaking causing water/mildew in the carpet. I was going to replace the weathering strip and see if that works for the leak and then clean the carpet before trying to replace all of the carpet...??

anybody know the OEM parts for this? i did read on another thread the best way to go was OEM parts for this to ensure good fit. I know it won't be cheap but I'd rather.

this will give you some idea of the price your looking at...this was for my '01 so you'll have to put in your exact numbers for your toy....not too bad for the weatherstripping but be sitten down when you look at the glass..!! (you can get the exact part numbers at the stealership then order em online)

Yes, you can save so much money fixing the weather stripping on the door of your 4runner that your house will basically become free of operating costs.

Old post but it is worth noting that the part numbers referenced here are just the strip at the end of the door

The weather strip that goes all around the door averages $100 each from dealers

Yeah. Last I checked each door weatherstrip was at least $60 from dealer. Do the math. !!! Best going to a local junkyard. Finding a 4runner and getting weatherstrip from it.
