Replacing xreas / daystar system with Bilstein

Hey all,

Sorry, I know there are a ton of threads on replacing the xreas system with Bilsteins, but in searching I haven't been able to answer one question.

I have a 2004 Sport and I added the Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift a few years back. That gave me exactly the lift I was looking for. My xreas shocks are now shot, and I don't want to replace them, so I was looking to switch to Bilstein 5100's. My question is, to keep the same level and lift that I have now, should I leave the rear 1.5 spacers when I put on the Bilsteins? I know the fronts are adjustable, I just need to figure out what setting to put them at, and how to keep the backs at the same height I have now. I was hoping not to buy springs, but if I need to, is there a good place to get them?

Bilsteins at their max should give you 2.5" so if you want to keep things the same, you'll probably want to keep those rear spacers.

For new coils, check out Dobinson's. I opted for lift coils with the bilsteins set at 0 since the factory ones were pretty sagged out.

My stock coils appear to have sagged… the fronts more so than the rears. I only say this because I got way more than the 2.5 to 2.75” of anticipated lift.

If you are trying to save money and do this for as little cash as possible, keep the spacers, but if I was in your position I would just replace with new lift springs especially if you do any off-road driving.

I bought most all my suspension from Wheelers Offroad. They were pretty helpful answering a bunch of questions and helping with selection over the phone so I decided to order from them.

Plus they do offer an assembly service where they completely build the front with shock, spring, and top hat with new hardware. Ready for a drop-in install without needing to deal with a spring compressor. I ended up doing this and saved a bunch installing myself at home.
