Request: RCI 5 degree vs 20 degree sliders pics.

Having a hell of a time deciding between the 5 degree and the 20 degree sliders from RCI. Does anyone have any pics that highlight how far their sliders stick out and how well they double as a step? I've found a million pictures, but most of them either don't clarify which version of the slider I'm looking at, or have a bad angle to see how far they sticking out vs tucked under.

I'm caught between rationalizing that the 20 degree ones are good enough as a step, and my initial instinct of needing a flat slider for the misses and our tiny human.

Currently I have the Predator Rockcatchers and probably anything would be an improvement over those...

Any pics would be super appreciated!

I made my own sliders and they are at 19 degrees. There is slightly less than one inch clearance from the bottom of the door to the top of the slider. I am 6'2" and really never factored in using them as steps in the design process. With that said, they really are too high to be considered as a step. I would think if they also need to be used as a step that you should go with the lowest angle slider available.

no pics but i have the RCI 0 degrees and comparing my sliders to pictures I've seen I think the RSG 0 stick out more. As a flat surface it can help like a step but the downside is that the height is too high to really function as a step into the car. Not that it doesn't help, it does, but a good functional step should be about 4-6 inches lower.

From a pure vanity/functional standpoint, the steeper angled ones look the best and keep high and tight, but that whole 'need to load the family into the car' here and there keep clouding my selfish instincts.

Basically doing a shit ton of 2nd and 3rd guessing of myself now that I'm about to pull the trigger on something that's basically non-returnable. I was settled on the 5 degree ones for the last 2 months while pricing out everything and of course now I'm hesitating before pulling the trigger.

get the flat slider. rci has a tax event so it makes it a bit more palatable.

I have the RCI 5 degree DOM sliders on mine... Love them. Very easy to install. Very strong. While you're at it, grab some aluminum skids, too. You wont regret it.

Yea, grabbing the 'TRD Integration Skid' while I'm at it. I'm not projecting the need for TOO much more beyond that (protection-wise) for my use cases at the moment, but who knows how that will change as time goes on.

I made the same assumptions when I started doing HPDE/Time Attack runs, and before I knew it I was out there 2 weekends a month and competing for points like a crack addict...

Yes, that's what I did, TRD Integration skid... then just went on back past the t-case. They protect vulnerable areas of the engine and drive-train and afford a bit more peace of mind.

Good luck. RCI is a great company. I'd buy from them again without hesitation.

RCI got back to me pretty quick and they happened to have a decent shot of the two side by side. 4Runners are a touch different but this is about the best I could expect.

glad RCI got back to you. the one on the left (presumably the 20 degree version) looks fantastic in terms of tucking up. although the trade off is a reduced step.

Yea, looks so much cleaner, but as much as I wanted to go with the 20 degree ones, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the 5 degree ones with the top plate as well as the TRD Integration skid.

Now begins the wait.
