*** Request: TIS Techstream Headlight Program Options ***

I would like the headlights programmed to automatically turn off when the ignition is turned off. Right now, they turn off about 30 seconds after the last door closes... very annoying when you leave the door open a while and then the battery dies (yes it's new).

I have read in the Yota manual somewhere that there are several options for the headlight programming. What I don't want to do is pay $100 to have this changed. I couldn't get the dealer to 'help me out' with this at the same time as a $1200 front brake job either... not without an extra $80.

Please confirm what the headlight programming options are and how many minutes does it take to change???...Thanks!

Just read your post. The dealer charged you 1200 bucks for a front brake job?

Would you mind letting us know what they changed/replaced for all that money?

Hello,

The only way to achieve that is by hooking up a Techstream to the vehicle then your able to make the changes you like and even do more. I changed settings on my GS300 here at work using the Techstream.

You need to have a buddy that is a tech and have him to these changes for you.

This is the information looking on TIS (I Work For Toyota) look at the attachment.

CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS
1. CUSTOMIZING FUNCTION WITH TECHSTREAM (REFERENCE)

NOTICE:
- When the customer requests a change in a function, first make sure that the function can be customized.
- Be sure to make a note of the current settings before customizing.
- When troubleshooting a function, first male sure that the function is set to the default setting.
(a) Turn the ignition switch LOCK.
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(d) Turn the tester on.
(e) Enter the following menus:
(1) Select: Customize Setting.
(f) Select the setting by referring to the table below.

[MENTION=136431]metramm[/MENTION] toyota rebuilt calipers, toyota new rotors, toyota pads, fluid.... 1200.00 with 100.00 toyota coupon. But, thats what I get for living in the Puget Sound area. A reputable independent shop quoted me 1300.00 and that was with non-yota parts.

What is your opinion on the ebay techstream cables/ software... and/ or how do i make friends with a yota tech? It seems like this should have been a piece of cake when they had it hooked up for brake bleed. There must be a secret handshake to get the service advisor to ask the tech these little things that could be rewarded with some cash.

[MENTION=110143]dalandshark[/MENTION] I downloaded and installed a copy of Techstream and used an eBay purchased cable to program my truck. Software was free, cable was about 15 bucks. I can plug into my truck anytime I want and run tests, program, etc. with my setup. Not sure about your questions about Techs or service advisors as the only time my truck has been to a dealer was for a free dashboard.
