I agree that the WMW debacle involved no politics or news at all and resulted in death threats against business owners and multiple T4R members suspended.

My point obviously is that the idea that politics is extra dangerous is just an opinion and one that I don't share.

It does not seem to matter though since there is little desire on the mods part to go down this road further. So be it.

Interesting that what you consider "conversing like adults" includes little immature digs like quoted above. And you wonder why these things devolve?

how is that a "dig"? it is patently obvious that there are members who cannot converse as adults, just as there are members who insist on reading topics in which they profess no interest yet feel compelled to b1tch about to a moderator because the thread injures their delicate sensibilities.

re-read what brian posted. he specifically excluded the moderators from the implication, not the other way around. the fact that you appear to have taken his statement as a slight directed at moderators is a symptom of the problem; lack of comprehension/full understanding prior to commenting.

* 2 users volunteer to moderate the new section, rules are set with new mods

Problem I see there is that anyone who would volunteer for that position would most likely be someone interested in that section. Which would make it hard to maintain an unbiased stance. Much like our judicial system. The Catch-22.

Sounds like I missed some excitement.

So, I guess this never went anywhere? Too bad, really. I miss OT being active and meaningful.

Wow. Apparently pointing out a moderators hyprocrisy is now a punishable offence.
1engineer you sure this doesn't have anything to do with our private conversation earlier? Seems like quite a coincidence that we have a dispute over PM and now you've found something to give me an infraction for.

Or maybe others have let this thread go and habitual complaining by the same individuals keep trying to stir the pot. Further showing that clearly the lack or maturity and ability to act like adults is the exact reason we don't have those topics like these on the forum.
I didn't think it was that hard to understand?

I think I have been quite civil in how I've gone about things. I certainly haven't referred to anyone as immature or childish. IMO that would constitute a personal attack, but apparently it instead earns you a like from a moderator. (See my earlier post about hypocrisy)

What may seem to you as 'stirring the pot' I see as standing up for what is fair, right and/or true.

What do you not get? There is no more political discussion. In the mod's opinion it immediately escalates into flame wars. There will be no special politics section. The topic is done, yet you continue to bring up old threads and post in this one, whining and crying around. I asked you to just move on. You didn't.

Your infraction was for whining. One more and you are gone.

You don't need to refer to someone directly when their actions are a reflection of that. To simply now come back with the victim mentality is beyond me. The logic you lack shows due to the fact it has been clearly explained several times in several ways on various threads. You just continue to negate and refute it all. With all of this energy you could have started another forum specifically with this topic in mind instead of stirring the pot/causing drama/playing the vicitm/dismiss all other reasons...I can think of other synonyms if these ones are too harsh?
What is fair is not always right and what is right is not always fair . Getting into truth is a whole other realm. Again to have to explain this shows why these threads were closed. Sorry for the confusion and maybe this is your outlet and hopefully you got your partial fix tonight with this back and forth but the reality is the same indivuals keep doing the same things expecting different results....I believe there was a famous quote about this but I will let you research it.
Mods have been PC enough and let it slide for a few weeks but to continually keep trying to re hash and think you are bringing something new to the table is when finally you have to start having consequences as apparently laying idle and letting it go isn't working with you.

Greg --- infection for whining?

Is that really a thing? Did you actually give him a strike and potential ban for whining?

Don't ban these guys for disagreeing.

With regards to this thread, my personal observation is that the no politics rule seems to be a shared agreement by the mods and although it represents a notable change in direction from 5+ years of politics being allowed, it is nonetheless something us non-mods have no vote on.

I submitted a request. It was discussed. It was denied. I'm moving on.

Off topic jumped the shark, we all know it.

Exactly and I appreciate it. Others have not moved on, hence the whining infraction. Yes, it is a rule although seldom used.

Since decision has been made and OP has moved on, maybe this thread needs to be CLOSED?

And future discussions on similar topics will be directed back to this "reference" thread.

Just a suggestion.
