Requesting opinions on dealer quote

I am pricing a new 2011 T4R with the KDSS/Nav package and the 4R floormats.

Total MSRP not including shipping $40,929 (shipping is $810)

dealer quoting me $39,939 which is $990 off.

So I have them down to $990 and would love to hear what you think. Gave them $1000 deposit to find the right T4R because they said it must be brought over, presumably from one of the other 12 Toytoa dealerships owned by the same man.

What do you think of that price and do you think i can do any better? :nerd:

Well I think my dealer was offering me invoice for a TE and that was like $34,000 I believe. But don't quote me on that one, so you might be able to do better

Edmonds.com states that invoice is closer to $38K with those selected options.

$990 off isn't that much incentive. I'd try and get them lower, which might be difficult to do since you already gave them $1000 to find you a Trail. Goodluck mate.
 
Canada or US? That sounds like Canadian pricing... if so thats not bad, I got about 1500$ off mine, but TE's are rarer even in Canada
 
Price

Toyota Carmax in Maryland has them for 2000 under the MSRP, just to give you an idea. In this area cars are much more then other areas.

is pretty crazy low. maybe—maybe—if it was sitting on the dealer lot and it had been there for some time that price might be achievable. but since the dealer has a deposit and is finding you exactly what you want i would agree that 38k-ish might be doable. then again, the Trail seems to be harder to find these days, so they may have you over the proverbial barrel. :frisky:

My salesperson/dealer must be idiots if they told I can get a trail from them for 34,000 with a lifetime powertrain warranty! :lmao:

keep in mind the OP is looking for Nav + KDSS which significantly ups the $$. your dealer's price may be without those options?

I paid $37,500 for mine; out the door price. I got 2010 T4R Trail Edition w/KDSS and NAV.This was in North Carolina. I bought the truck a little over a year and half ago.

** Bear in mind I did trade in a banged up Jeep Liberty which had no seats (rear), bumpers and over 100,000 miles **etc... (very little trade in value).

I thought is was still a pretty good deal but boy do I HATE dealerships, there a bunch of slime balls! I was told I had to pay for the "sunroof visor wind guard" because it had already been installed on truck (where it was transferred from). Invoice $185.00 for a piece of plastic that is purchasable from Auto Zone for $20.00. Even worse this was a really cheap one. So... got home, got the pressure washer out and... boom! It came off in seconds. Went back to the dealer (next day) a got a "nice" new one and a refund! :ak472:

So watch out, as you well know they are a bunch of scammers!

keep in mind the OP is looking for Nav + KDSS which significantly ups the $$. your dealer's price may be without those options?

There was your first mistake. They've got you by the balls with your deposit. I hope you at least put the deposit on a credit card so you can dispute it if need be.

There is their first "lie" and your second mistake. Go find it yourself at whatever dealer has what you want. We found ours in another state and originally had the dealer agree to deliver it to us at no extra charge. When that didn't work out, they bought me a plane ticket to come get it and gas to take it home. If you let another dealer locate it for you and have it transferred in they are going to CHARGE YOU for the "service" of bringing it in.

Opinion on quote

It's the end of the model year. Most dealer's are doing invoice. I did mine on the last day of the month in August and got $6000 off. There may have been some type of manufacturer kick back, but what do I care as long as I get my price.
