Yeah i know... Its a really crappy cheap pressure washer. Not powerful enough to damage paint. Believe it or not, not that stupid :). Came off too easy and told the dealer it happened in the car wash! My salesperson at the dealer was an African American fellow with JET GRAY hair. Should of been suspicious right from the beginning with him.

He placed a few "extras" on the invoice which with out care I would have paid for. I spotted them out and questioned him and his response was "Hey, we all got to feed are family":wow2:. I was shocked by that response, if the TE 4runner wasn't so hard to get i would have gone to another dealer.

LOL... The picture is from the dealers website page. I just wanted to share a FEW of my experiences that day, so others can be aware when coming to purchase or look.

I believe there will be no such thing as a "Car Dealer Salesperson" or VERY FEW in 20 years. The internet is full of everything you could possible ask a dealer. You can price haggle, ask questions, join forums, etc...

Enough ranting...... End of story I HATE CAR DEALERSHIPS!

They are like sharks! I came up with the idea that salesman must wear a hat that is a shark fin on top of their head, since they rush around the dealership to catch you and just attack you.
You should be able to see that shark fin coming!
I remember the last time we were at a dealership we decided to just drive on the lot and not get out of the car, and a salesman was literally RUNNING beside the car to get us when we got out!
 
Spoke to the dealer and he told me he is still having trouble locating a Trail with the KDSS. Told me that its difficult because its hard to find to begin with and because the new 2012's are coming out.

Am I correct in assuming that he is looking through his inventory and the other 12 dealers inventory first and if he must go out of state or to some other dealership he will? I refuse to believe that the Trail with KDSS is not out there but he may have to have it brought over from further away, does that sound right?

p.s. He told me he did find one Trail with KDSS but it's been driven around by the finance guy and is still technically new because it was never registered but he has to find out how many miles it has and he said he knows for a fact that it comes with even more options that we don't want. I know one thing, if we do take this particular Trail I am not paying a penny extra for options I don't want.

At this point I am almost hoping he cant find the vehicle so I can get the deposit back and start a bidding war between other dealers. :D

p.p.s. I spoke to another dealer and he informed that it would be impossible to get a 2011 with the KDSS because they aren't made anymore and aren't available. Does that sound right? I told him according to the Toyota website I can build one and request a quote and he told me the site will say many things but a 4R Trail with KDSS is not possible.

I had a pretty hard time finding a TE with Nav and KDSS as well. I paid a little over 40k for Nav, KDSS, Remote Start, 3M protection package and all that little stuff.

My main resource for finding what I wanted was Cars.com You can choose exactly what you want and contact different dealerships that have what your looking for. I did find that TEs with everything you want are rare, and then you throw on a color specification as well.

I found my 4runner on Cars.com and worked everything out with the Dealership over the phone. live in CO and flew out to a little airport in Quincy, IL to buy the 4runner and drive it back. It was painless and I'm very satisfied with my first Dealership experience.

And on a side note... My goal was originally to find a used 5th gen, however the local dealership that had what i wanted, actually wanted more for the used 4runner than I paid for the new one. They had paid too much for it in an auto auction and couldnt negotiate on the price at all.

Some sites, like kbb.com list dealer inventories. They're not always up to date and not 100% accurate, but they're pretty close. Look there. Then go to that dealer's web site's inventory page and look at the stock number. Call them, and see if they have it. If they have it, go and get it. It's worthwhile to look at their financing offers too, you can usually get them going against each other there too.

And call the other dealer and tell them you want your $1000 back as they have not delivered. The deposit is a good-faith deposit that you want to buy a vehicle, and has to be refunded if you change your mind.
 
original dealer i gave the 1K deposit to has not gotten back to me yet with a located vehicle. I decided to check cars.com as suggested by another user and it led me to some dealerships in my area that said they found the particular 4Runner I want. I am a man of my word so I am still giving the original dealer time to find them, but let's just say that all inventory people are not created equal, clearly these other dealers have more pull than my guy. I still think my dealer will find what the other dealers have found I'm just going to have to be patient. :smashputer:

what is wrong of me to call my guy and tell him other dealers found the vehicle already? I told him this and said I hope it helps him.

Dealers can display that they have "inventory" when really they don't. I experienced this when purchasing mine. This particular dealer said they had it when it was actually 620 miles away. Its kind of like Real Estate brokers, they can advertise other brokers listings and obtain a commission by providing a buyer. Good luck and keep us posted.

So be sure to ask the internet sales guy if it's on the lot right now. If there is humming and hawing, don't bother going ;)

I highly recommend going through edmunds.
Just price out your car to see what invoice "should be", then at the end it asks you if you want to get quotes from local dealers, select yes and put in your address info.

I got contacted by like 4, and they were pretty close to the invoice. I ended up going through the certified pre-owned route, I got everything I wanted in the car I bought which is not common, but If you wait around and constantly check the certified pre-own you might find what you want for a little less.

OH OH - BTW - wait to see what the 2012 will have more than the 2011's.. Might be worth it!

He could only get me a demo vehicle with 3K miles or another vehicle driven by the finance guy which has 8k miles. He said he could get me something off the boat but that was it, I told him call me back Wednesday and let me know if you can even get that one.

I am now moving on to another dealer, number 3, I'll update this thread accordingly. I have dropped my color preference.

I'll have to pick it up about 2 hours away but it has everything I want plus some extra options and I'm paying what the first dealer quoted. I'll post pics when I pick her up in a few days.
