Retrofit headlight problems! Haaaalp!

So I recently noticed that my driver side LED halos wasn't flashing when I hit the lock/unlock button on my key fob. I at first though that the LED might have gone out, but confirmed that wasn't the problem because it turns on fine when I turn my parking lights or my headlights on. It also still works perfectly as a turn signal as well.

What could be the cause of one flashing and the other not, but both working fine when the headlights are on?

Have someone else turn the halos on while you watch the front of the truck. I'll bet the halo that is no longer flashing takes half a second longer to pop on. If so, try the turn signal and see if it switches back to white slow as well. It's almost definitely a driver error if the halo is still lighting up properly.
I'm assuming these are switchback or RGBWA halos. Also what brand did you buy Morimoto, Diode Dynamics, or?

This is why I suggest everyone have their halos and LEDs run on a separate isolated circuit with a simple Toyota on off switch instead of tying into the running/corner lights. Simple = less problems.

They're Morimoto SXB drivers. I know that when I turn my headlights or parking lights on, it slowly powers up, but seems to work perfectly fine as a turn signal and no lag. The passenger side works perfectly normal.

I wanted mine to act as turn signals because I don't think the small LED signals that came with me AOR bumper are bright enough. Everything works as intended, just that driver side not flashing when I hit the key fob is driving me nuts. The company I bought the lights from told me that it's highly unlikely a bad driver if everything is still working. I'm at a loss here, almost considering just taking it to a shop and having them sort it out.

You could try the simple stuff like checking the pins and adding dielectric grease to the connections.

However the troubleshooting for HID/LED components is basically: switch the drivers across the truck between both halos and see what happens is the problem moves with the driver it's bad, if the problem is the halo it wont change sides.

After that I'd suggest you contact whoever you purchased them through and let them know, with that troubleshooting info. They will handle the warranty.

Switching sides with the drivers is what the guy at The Retrofit Source told me. I really didn't want to spend more time tearing everything down and swapping them just to find out that it's probably the driver, so I just bought a new one for $13. Explained the problem to the guys at SQR Fab and they reimbursed me the money.
