Reverse parking sensor installation

I know there are 2 or 3 threads about this but I couldn't find any pics from installation so I took few when I was installing it in my 4R. I bought those sensors on ebay and I paid close to 50$ with shipping. You can get them cheaper but I wanted silver sensors and there weren't many to choose from. Installation was very easy. The hardest part is to get those wires inside .On pic #2 You can see where I put them inside and that took some time. Other than that...piece of cake...
I installed display same way like wkparker did in his installation . BTW thanks for good idea!!!:
Maybe tomorrow I will try take a pic of closest distance between bumper and object when display says 0.

what seller did you get your sliver backup sensor from? all the seller I seen on ebay are form oversea?? I don't know if I want BACKUP SENSOR or just get a PIONEER ND-BC1 back up camera that will work with my DVA D900..

installing the sensor on the front bumper where the sliver trim is with a no/off switch on one of the empty switch button would be nice too.

How does the display read? i.e. are the numbers right-side-up? All the pics I've seen have shown that display on the dash. Are the numbers backwards? (so that they'll show up forwards in the rear view)

Uhhh but the sensors activate when you put them in reverse so what good would they do in the front bumper :

I got the same reverse sensor from a seller overseas(wholesale mania). The item came really fast (shipped DHL to Hawaii). I'm very happy with the sensor, but I only installed two instead of four. (kept two just in case one fails)

Mine was shipped from Hong Kong... Seller ID was wholesale_mania. If You are between sensor and back up camera (and have $$$) , go with camera. Sensors are much cheaper and to be honest, I installed them more for look.... They help me sometimes with my parking but camera would be much better...

How does the display read? i.e. are the numbers right-side-up? All the pics I've seen have shown that display on the dash. Are the numbers backwards? (so that they'll show up forwards in the rear view)

Yes..They are up side down but.... I don't mind....I wouldn't like that display in front on dash. Also with a display, You hear beeps so You know how much more space You have.. I'll take few more pics showing how display works......

Uhhh but the sensors activate when you put them in reverse so what good would they do in the front bumper :

if you give power to it it will stay on all the time .that why when you put it in reverse it come on cause that the only time it get power. that why I said to use a switch so when you ever need it you turn it on and off.:arrow:

I just installed a backup sensor kit， Relatively easy to install. They give you heavy duty velcro straps. I did not have to remove the bumper. There is just enough access to slide your hand up behind the bumper and over the steel guard to install the device. I removed two of the clip pins holding the bumper underneath to give me a little more room for my hands. A tip for removing these pins - put your finger on the washer piece on the outer ridge and pry the center pin up with a flat blade screwdriver. Do not try to pry up under the plastic washer as they will break. Make sure the center pin is still popped out when re-inserting. The device is about 2 inches by 4 inches. You attach the velcro to the inside back of the plastic bumper (above the steel guard) and the other piece to the device. Wiggle it into position. The wiring is simple, finding the access hole took some time -there is one on the driver side and you will need to remove the back panel (in the trunk) to get at it, but it's only held on by two screws and some plastic tags. Once the wires are through you connect to the backup light - easy too - they are up under the trunk hood - red wire positive - white wire negative. The kit includes a small indicator light which also sounds the beeper. I installed it inside one of the air slots (vent for the battery pack) and routed the wire under the rear deck panel and into the trunk. This way, I can see it in my rear view mirror. So far, so good, very sensitive to movement (i.e., a child, or something). The only drawback was the price - 300 bucks. Hopefully it was worth it, will let you know.:hatsoff:

Parking Dynamics PD1 Parking Sensor

I have searched the forum and read available threads on parking sensors, but I haven't seen anyone mention the PD1 by Parking Dynamics (www.parkingdynamics.com). It appears to be a no drill solution made in Europe that uses an electromagnetic antenna mounted inside the bumper (front and/or back). Anyone have any experience with this product? I am considering it for my 2011 4R Limited because the backup camera display is pretty small in the rear view mirror (no nav), and my wife liked the front and rear parking sensors that were in our prior truck (Nissan Armada). Any concerns going with an electromagnetic antenna?

Ideally, I'd like to install a solution like this and tie it into the Parking Assist button from an SR5 (bought through Toyota parts) so it could be disabled if need be.

Hitch mounted options will not work for me because they will just get crushed in the city. Too many people like to park using the pinball method. Anyone with PD1 installed?

after reading the sonarstep dealer page it doesnt seem worth it.

at 3 feet you have a solid tone? meaning it doesnt tell you how close you are from 3ft and closer?

ive had mine for 3 years & its great. it starts beeping & flashing from stuff as far as 8ft away, it has 3 light (green thru red) & 3 beeping stages, yes the light turns red with a solid beep tone when ur 3 ft from something, but any one with decent driving skills should be able to judge another foot or so, i mean how close do u want to be, u cant be butt up against another car when parallel parking, gotta leave room for a car behind u to get out. when backing out of a driveway it sounds off if a kid or bike comes into path, for that alone its worth it! plus its a strong step that allows u to reach up top. plugs right in, comes with a lock, & can be taken out in a minute & used in another vec, if need be. bought mine off ebay for under 110, they cost alot more now. theres also a different brand of sonar step but i forgot the name.

Thanks man! Two last things, any pictures of it mounted? And how far to the left and right does it cover? Only thing I'm worried about is it not really catching something close to the far left or right of the rear bumper...
