you'll need to swap out the coil springs or add a spacer or have a body lift to get enough lift to fit the 33" tires.

Anyone have any experience with what tire sizes will fit at the different lift heights on the 6112s for a 3rd gen? I'm ready to get a set of 6112s for my 98 but want to make sure that my 285s will fit on the highest setting or if I'll need to add a top plate spacer.

No mater the static ride height, a suspension lift still (should) leave you with the same up travel, which means no more room for bigger tires - except maybe for easy street driving.

If you need clearance for tires, you need a body lift or you need to start cutting/trimming/hammering.

A fancy setup is not only ride height adjustable, but has infinite adjustment of the actual valving (granted I've seen like two people on this entire forum who have fine tuned their suspension like that)

I installed 5100s on my 2010 4RT a few years ago; they failed after 56K miles; all of them leaking; I take it off road for about 6 - 7 days each year, otherwise it's all street, albeit some of the streets around here are like doing mild off-road driving. Bilstein is crediting for the failed shocks, so, two months ago I ordered 6112s and 5160s set-up and every two weeks I'm told the back order for the 6112s is pushed back again ... this time to mid-April, just when it's time to get on the rough off-road. I'm not keen on going back with 5100s, so, I'm looking for alternatives in the event this process takes to long, so, I can get back in the off-road wilderness without worrying about bouncing off the road in the process. I like rock-n-roll, but, not the kind my truck is currently doing.

I had the 5100 but they were too soft and lasted about 1 year. I was not pleased with them. I have Kings now and trilled with the handling it gives me.

Any follow upon the 6112s? Surely some one must have run them for a while by now.

Im coming from Tundra 5100s that have been pretty darn good so far. But as my truck grows, I would like a little bit more capable shock setup, on a leaner budget.

Running them on an 02 for a year. 8/9 perch with LC 8wraps with tokikos.
Rides great, nice on road ride and handles high speed rough roads and tracks no problem. Run 33 x 10.5s on stock 15” alloys. No wheel spacers and No rubbing on control arms or fender wells. I do not have flares. I currently do not wheel hard, so I cannot comment on full flex or crawling abilities.
I was looking for a good middle ground between standard and coilovers, I think the 6112s fit the bill quite nicely.
