revs go doen until it turns off. Really need help!!

So my problem basically is that when i turn on my 4runner 03 limited v8 4x4. It turns on but the revs start to go down until it turns off. If i accelarate it as soon as i turn it on it will remain on until y release the accelerator . This just popped up today and i have no clue of whats wrong with it. Also sometimes after i accelerate it it remains on like for a min in really low revs and then shuts off but that has only happened twice. Thankyou guys in advance!!!!

Do you have any MIL or lights on the dash when this occurs? Have you replaced and/or jump started your vehicle recently?

Well i have the check engine light and vsc trac, vsc off light. But thise are due to a pressure control solenoid in the transmission. And yes. I recently tightened a loose battery terminal.

You may have more then one code, so get it read again.

You might have to get the Pressure control solenoid in the transmission fixed first...then get another reading to see if there are any other codes.

Symptoms for a fuel pump is that it can't maintain volume at higher revs. I didn't see that as a symptom here. This sounds like a sensor is failing - possibly the MAP sensor.

first of all thank you guys for all the help. i just left the battery unplugged for the night and plugged it back in the morning and problem solved.

That's why I asked if you had jump started it recently or had a dead battery, the idle gets reset when the module doesn't get enough voltage for a period of time.

Typically its just letting the vehicle idle with no loads for about 5 minutes after you hook up the battery and it relearns the idle setting.

One more thing, you have a 2003; the '03 & '04 the ZPC (Zero Point Calibration) data gets reset when the battery is disconnected or the voltage drops below about 12v. So I would recommend doing a search for how to relearn the ZPC.

When it is running does it feel rough or does it sputter till it shuts off? Sounds like it could be an issue with a vacuum line or your MAF sensor.
