Hi all, I have a 95 4runner, when I bought it , cranks up everytime, no smoking at all, no oil or coolant loss, but revs up real slow, I thought hey maybe timing is off, so I had my mechanic check timing, he said everything seems fine, he pulled timing cover etc checked timing marks all that, I also thought maybe cat is clogged, pulled it off its been punched out previously, I tried to drive it to the shop, it started off real slow and I made it about 2 miles and then I could push the pedal to the floor and she just would not go anymore. My mechanic, very good one by the way, says he pretty sure the engine is not bad, he is thinking maf's, or something possible electrical, anyone on hear have any ideas?

check the throttle position sensor and cam sensor . could be loose or corroded connections

I had very similar issue, which I believe I have isolated. I will hold off on sharing that until it is confirmed, but if you follow the post I provided you should be able to eliminate a lot of other possibles.
I had very low idle RPM, low power. crank up perfectly, not running rough at all. no other symptoms with my 95' V6.
btw, I shopped around and got both tests performed for $89.

missed in your first post that timing cover was removed to ensure timing was correct. post deleted...

I know this is somewhat elementry but make sure your plug wires are not crossed. It will cause this exact symptom and don't think just cause a mechanic looked at it he didn't miss it. I've had mechanics put them on imcorrectly in the past. Caused it to run rough and have very little power but still managed to run. One plug wire crossed will cause this.
