Rey the Runner TRDP Build/Adventure Thread
Hey all, for the past two months I've been traveling around in my '16 TRDP 4Runner, and I thought you may enjoy some of the photos I've been taking of her! Currently most of these photos are from our road trip to Alaska, where we drove from California to Banff and Jasper, then up to Alaska through Canada along the Alcan Highway, and then all back again. Here's a photo to get started, taken near Destruction Bay, in the Yukon:
She's set up to sleep two in the back, with storage up top via a Gobi Stealth rack, two Pelican cases, and a Pelican 35L cooler. Also calling the Gobi home is an ARB side awning, and when we need an enclosed space I have ARB's zip-on room enclosure. When not in use the enclosure lives in a large Watershed dry bag that I've strapped to the front behind a homemade wind deflector.
Camping at Muncho Lake in northern British Columbia:
Inside accommodations include two Therm-a-Rest Dream mattresses that I've modified to fit snugly around the wheel wells, a ceiling net from Blue Ridge Overland for pillows, blankets, headlamps, or whatever else I want to clip to it, and - of course - a string light.
Our view the following morning:
Here's the enclosed room. Camping near Whitehorse, Yukon (you can see the inner opening into the cabin through the front "door"):
Slightly better view of what's going on on the rack. Taken near North Pole, Alaska. They have a giant Santa Clause there.
So far I haven't had any issues and have loved the setup. She handled the rough Denali Highway like a champ, bouncing over 100 miles of unsavory gravel road freshly torn up by a big hunting weekend. :frusty: Only complaint is one small rattle near the glove box I need to track down. That could also be from my trip to the sand dunes or other off road trails before Alaska, but I'm blaming the highway...anyway, here are two photos from that leg of the trip:
One last one for now. Here she is crossing the Kiskatinaw Bridge along the Old Alaska Highway:
