RH steering wheel controls used for random switches instead of head unit?

Read up on people adding RH steering wheel controls with aftermarket head units.

I am curious if anyone has use the RH buttons for other purposes or if it's even feasible. I'd like to use it for things like aftermarket lights etc.

Thoughts?

Steering wheel controls use a two wire interface. Could be done but you would need a decent understanding of two wire interfaces and some sort of lightweight computer ie arduino or raspberry pi to decode. Possible but a whole boat load of work.
